This is a mode made available exclusively to programmers and developers, allowing them to run software from a memory stick instead of the UMD. Establishing service mode is the first hurdle to downgrading your PSP's firmware, running custom firmware, or testing out your own programs on a PSP. Convert your standard battery to a service battery so you can access this Service Mode on your own, non-developers' PSP!
