you do not need to take comp science III to get it to work, just SOME knowledge like how to plug in a freakin cable and click two buttons in jungleflasher, very simple yet this drive barely reads any disks besides verbs which are expensive, its loud too, get the benq its quieter, reads more media, and the benq is much easier to update the firmware if you use a custom firmware if not and you just transfer your stock firmware and/or key over then its all okiedorie because thats just a one time ever flash

Works perfect. Instead of flashing the new drive I just swapped circuit boards and we were back in business.

best way to save money is before takeing apart your 360 and removeing the warranty sticker, call xbox and tell the you have the red ring of death nothing els other then that. they will replace it for free. if you had the RROD it would be more likley the companys fault for the defected product. if you had a broken dvd drive it would be a differant story. (offcourse dont actually send it in if it doesnt have the RROD. give it the RROD) call xbox and verify if that they will replace it for free if you have the RROD. they may not anymore.

I think replacing the circuit board would be an excellent idea if it were not for the fact that it is connected to the drive by 3 tiny delicate ribbon cables, no clue if they are soldered or not,If 5 yr old was heart surgeon might be ok.

This is the first time we attempted a repair on our XBox 360. My son found a really helpful YouTube video, "How to fix a broken XBox 360 dvd disc Drive", and he just did it. This Toshiba Disc Drive is working just great!!

Soeasy to do... ignore the other comments.... put your existing green circuit board in this new drive and your golden... no need to flash.... A 5 year old could do it...

You don't really need any knowledge in computers to get this to work, just google up one of the hundreds of tutorials out there on google to get it working with your 360.
